Kids and Teens (ages 7-18)
Full-time and part-time in school cognitive enhancement programs for kids and teens with learning and attention difficulties.
When kids and teens are struggling with activities like reading, mathematics, or problem solving, the pathways in their brain that process this information can be weak or overactive.
For some, this leads to mild learning and attention difficulties, and for others, more pronounced learning disabilities, like dyslexia or dyscalculia.
We offer 19 different Arrowsmith cognitive exercises that strengthen the specific pathways in the brain we use for learning, social skills, and more.

FULL-TIME PROGRAM
A combination of four blocks of individualized Arrowsmith cognitive exercises in addition academic subjects of Math, Language Arts, Integrated Studies (ie: STEAM, Social Studies, Fine Arts) and physical activity. Students attend school Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 3:15pm with the option of adding after-school supervised homework sessions.
COGNITIVE ASSESSMENTS
Upon enrollment, students receive a full cognitive brain profile (Arrowsmith Assessment) which measures baseline levels in a range of cognitive areas. Progress is tracked daily, and reports are provided throughout the year. A second cognitive assessment is provided at the end of the school year to assess change in underfunctioning areas and plan for future programming.
PROGRAM DURATION
It takes time and repetition for the brain to strengthen and grow neural pathways! Our programs are offered for the full academic year (Full Time and Half Day), and October through May (Part Time), but students are also welcome to join throughout the year as space allows.
Arrowsmith program length is individualized to each student, based on their rate of progress and their overall cognitive profile.
Our goal is to help students strengthen their brains and transition successfully back to full academic programs with a stronger foundation to build on.
ACADEMICS & COMMUNITY
āWe follow the Washington State curriculum for Math and Language Arts, and offer integrated studies in STEAM, Social Studies and Fine Arts curriculum. We meet students at their current academic level with the goal of reaching grade level to transition back to mainstream schools. ā
We also offer a variety of activities during the school day to foster community, spirit and friendship. This can range from field trips to themed spirit days.

We accept new students year-round. School Year classes run from September to June, and summer classes run from June - August. We encourage students to sign-up as early as possible to secure their days/times, however we accept students throughout the year as availability allows.
Students can make cognitive gains at a similar rate at any age! Earlier interventions are, however, preferred (keeping in mind that students under the age of 7 have typically not yet developed the stamina and ability to engage in the Arrowsmith Program to the degree necessary for cognitive change to occur).
This varies from student to student. On average, it takes approximately three months for parents to see the first observable differences in their children. However, for students with more severe difficulties, we might not see observable behavioural developments until the second year. Our teachers will keep you up to date on the measurable differences they see in your child, and we would love to hear about any differences you see in your child outside of school!
