The PEERS® (Program for the Evaluation and Enrichment of Relationship Skills) is an evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated individuals keen on learning how to make and keep friends. Skills for establishing romantic relationships will be covered in the young adults module.
Research has shown that participants with social disorders or delays, from a variety of neurodiverse backgrounds (ASD, ADHD, ADD, Non-Verbal LD, etc.) have made long term social and mental health gains from PEERS®. Participants will learn how to build and maintain meaningful social relationships through a 14 - 16 week social coach (ie parent / caregiver) assisted program.
Participants will learn and practice social skills with us in our weekly group sessions. Social coaches will support in implementing these skills into their home and social lives with weekly guided homework assignments.
Please note that a large portion of the program relies on participants enrolling in an extracurricular activity so that they have opportunities to practice the learned social skills and find appropriate sources of friends in their community. You may want to consider having the participant pre-enrolled in an activity as the start dates may not coincide with our program start dates.
