Enhancing the brainā€™s capacity to learn

Adults (18 and up)

The adult programs are designed to help those with learning or attention difficulties enhance their capacity to excel at post-secondary school and in their career.

When people struggle with activities like reading, mathematics, or problem-solving, the pathways in their brain that process this information can be weak or overactive.

For some, this leads to mild learning and attention difficulties, and for others, more pronounced learning disabilities like dyslexia or dyscalculia.

We offer 19 different Arrowsmith cognitive exercises that strengthen the specific pathways in the brain we use for learning, performing tasks and more!

Our School

COGNITIVE ASSESSMENTS

Upon enrollment, students will receive a full cognitive brain profile (Arrowsmith Assessment) which measures baseline levels in a range of cognitive areas. Progress is tracked daily, and reports are provided throughout the year. A second cognitive assessment is provided at the end of the school year to assess change in underfunctioning areas and plan for future programming.

PROGRAM DURATION

It takes time and repetition for the brain to strengthen and grow neural pathways! Our adult part time program is offered from October through May (Part Time), but students are also welcome to join throughout the year as space allows.

Arrowsmith program length is individualized to each student, based on their rate of progress and their overall cognitive profile.

Our goal is to help students strengthen their brains, building a stronger foundation with which to enter the post-secondary and workforce world.

INTENSIVE PROGRAM

Our six-week Cognitive Intensive Program (CIP) runs Monday to Friday, six hours a day. This program is an accelerated offering of the Symbol Relations exercise. This program is also offered in the summer, check out our Summer Page.

The Symbol Relations cognitive function is responsible for processing concepts, understanding and quickly grasping what we read and hear, gaining insight, logical reasoning, seeing connections between ideas, cause and effect processing, and mathematical reasoning.

In the summer, we offer the regular 6 week CIP as well as a hybrid onsite / online option. For more information on summer programs in-person and online, check out our Summer Page as the programs vary by site.

WHO IS A GOOD FIT?

  • āž¤ When do we start to see improvements?
  • This varies from student to student. On average, it takes approximately three months for parents to see the first observable differences in their children. However, for students with more severe difficulties, we might not see observable behavioural developments until the second year.
